Built in 1855, this mansion, originally named The Oaks, was among the first summer homes built in the area. It was first occupied in 1856 by Dr. Phillip Maxwell, a prominent Chicago surgeon and real estate prospector, and at the time, was lakefront property on Geneva Lake.
